How to remote lock your Nokia mobile phone from anywhere
You generally lock or unlock your mobile phone by your keypad but you can lock your mobile phone remotely too from anywhere if required. Yes it is true. Many handsets support this great feature. This feature will work on Symbian s60 mobile like Nokia e63, e71, N95 and many other models.
What is the remote locking:
Remote locking of mobile phone is nothing but locking your mobile phone remotely by sending an SMS containing “special string” through another mobile handset.
What is the use of Remote locking:
Just suppose a condition in which you forget your mobile handset in a cafe house or somewhere else and you left for home. Anybody who found your mobile phone, can access your personal data from your mobile handset in cafe house. So by using this remote locking feature you can lock your mobile phone through your friend’s or wife’s mobile from anywhere by just sending an SMS. So others can not access your confidential data and also they can’t use your cellphone to call anybody. But still your mobile can receive calls.
How to remote lock mobile phone:
It is too easy. It is just 5 step process. Before using this feature in your mobile phone you need to configure your phone by following these steps.
Step 1: You can access these settings from
Menu > Settings > General > Security > Phone and SIM card > Allow remote lock
(Note:Settings and options may vary in different model)
Step 2: Now you can enable this feature.Then You will be asked to type a string as your “New Remote lock message” Type atleast 5 characters long message. Here I type “mymobi“.
Step 3: Then retype your string to verify your remote lock message.
Step 4: Then you will be asked to type Lock code. Type your lock code here. Generally default lock code is 12345 but you need to change it for greater security. Type lock code there and you are done.
Step 5: Now whenever you need to lock your mobile phone you just need to send an SMS to your mobile containing remote lock message, in my case “mymobi“. And if you want to unlock the phone, you can do so by typing the lock code that you have set.

How to format Nokia E71 mobile phone memory
Sometimes we need to format a mobile phone due to some virus problem or hanging problem or it might be memory full problem. So here is a step by step process to format Nokia E71 Mobile phone.
Warning : formatting process will erase all data from the phone memory so always take backup of all your important data. You may copy your contacts, messages, ringtones to memory card.
There are two methods to format Nokia E71.
First Method (Hard Reset) :
Note : Before doing hard reset always make sure that your mobile battery is full charged.
You can format your Nokia E71 by reset code
- Switch off the phone.
- Remove memory card and SIM card before Hard reset.
- Switch on the phone then
- Type *#7370# From your mobile keypad.
- It will ask you “Restore all origional phone settings ? Phone will restart”.
- Press Yes
- Then it will ask you to enter lock code, enter 12345 this is default lock code. If you change it to different one then enter that one.
- Your phone will be restarted and formatting is done.
If you want to restore factory setting only.
- then type *#7780# this will restore factory settings
- a warning message will be displayed, confirm it.
- Enter 12345 lock code when asked.
And you are done.
Second method :
- Switch off the phone
- then press and hold these four button till you see the formatting process on the screen.
- buttons are *, Green button that is used to call, 3 and on/off button.
